Google’s Nexus 7 Sales Nearing 1 Million A Month, Says ASUS

| |

Google’s Nexus 7 tablet has been a huge success for the company. Ever since its launch, the tablet has been selling like hot cakes. For $199, you get a great 7-inch tablet device that runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, has a good battery life, good hardware, all the basic requirements for a tablet and good build quality.
The Google Nexus 7 is manufactured by Asustek for Google. The search engine giant hasn’t revealed sales figures for the tablet yet, and they normally don’t. However, Asustek’s Chief Financial Officer David Chang recently told The Wall Street Journal that Nexus 7 sales are nearing 1 Million a month.
“At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million,”
That is a big number for Google, but it’s nowhere as close to Apple’s iPad sales figures. In the last quarter alone, Apple managed to sell a whopping 15 million iPads. Recently, Apple also announced the iPad Mini to take on smaller 7-inch tablets such as the Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD. Despite the higher price of the iPad Mini, the pre-order stock was depleted in less than 72 hours. Google has also announced a Nexus 10 to take on the 9.7-inch iPad.
Do you own a Nexus 7? How do you like it?
